NCS FIRST WAVE FRENZY

NCS FIRST WAVE FRENZY

The Racing Centre were proud to host NCS Team OH/7 Wave 4 in the final week of their four week commitment commencing Monday 14 August.

Led by NCS employer Lauren Reynolds, the group of eight launched into The Racing Centre’s Grow Together project supported by Suffolk Community Foundation and Tesco Bags of Help Campaign.

The team self –funded their project in our garden through crowdfunding page Just Giving. Generous donations from the community raised 77% of funds, for use of purchasing equipment and materials from local stores.

This is the first time The Racing Centre has worked with NCS and we look forward to accommodating future projects over the upcoming 8 week period. Many participants derive personal benefits and skills while enhancing their college applications.

The Racing Centre Manager Tom Lee said the work aimed to enhance the Grow Together Initiative.

Tom Lee said: “The NCS has introduced a range of new benefits for the community including hand crafted children’s games for young families to enjoy in our garden, which is accessible to all members of the public for free.

To get work underway so soon after our Grow Together Community Morning is most rewarding for staff and The Racing Centre members.

It was great to have the next wave of young adults through the door having recently hosted Inspire Suffolk’s 12 week training programme and we look forward to welcoming further volunteers to sustain the project.”

The Racing Centre continues to focus on involving young people in the centre, both from a Thoroughbred Industry and community background, to become a hub for sporting, social and educational activities.

The NCS was welcomed by Will Wright the Building Community Capacity Officer for West Suffolk County Council.

Both Racing Staff and the wider community can attend The Racing Centre garden, at no associated costs.

Opening hours are as follows:  9.00AM – 9.30PM Monday to Friday, 9.00AM – 11.00PM Saturday and 9.00AM – 7.30PM Sunday.
