Grow Together

Grow Together

Today we welcomed our beneficiaries, local businesses, charities and various council representatives to The Racing Centre for a coffee morning to show case our newly refurbished outside space as part of the Grow Together initiative.

Grow Together was launched as an idea in May 2016, as part of Business in the Community Give and Gain Day (www.bitc.org.uk), a national day that celebrates employee volunteering.

The idea was to develop a versatile outdoor space for the community to sit, relax and enjoy the benefits of outdoor activities and connecting with nature. It also provides interest for the more energetic and those who like working with plants and horticulture. We are also excited to be working with Suffolk Mind (www.suffolkmind.org.uk) to launch an Ecotherapy Programme in the near future.

The project was funded by grants received from Suffolk Foundation and TESCO Bags of Help Campaign.

Tom Lee, (pictured right) the Racing Centre’s Operations Manager said “We are delighted that the first phase of the project is now complete. There are well documented benefits of being outdoors and working with plants. We are looking forward to welcoming volunteers to The Racing Centre to get involved with what we are doing”

Sean O’Connor, CEO went on to say “we are very grateful to our funders for the opportunity of developing a flexible space with real value for our beneficiaries and community groups to enjoy. We are excited to be working with our local business partners to further develop the potential of the area in the next twelve months.
