18 Aug GROW TOGETHER COMMUNITY MORNING TRIUMPH
The Grow Together Community Morning, Wednesday 9 August was the first day for gardening at The Racing Centre.
We thank all visitors for their support and suggestions despite wet weather in the Newmarket area, the centre has formulated ideas to maintain The Racing Centre garden and preserve it as a social community hub for 2017-18.
There was encouraging feedback from Newmarket Allotment Association of Field Terrace Road who allocate plots to Suffolk Mind. With their help we can begin to implement an Ecotherapy Programme to benefit mental and physical health and wellbeing.
While the allotment gardeners have been offered a base to meet during winter, the National Citizens Service (NCS) will commence the first wave of a potential 8 week programme.
As a non-for profit social enterprise the NCS develops work and life skills for 15 – 17 year olds. They are keen to engage with The Racing Centre’s project because the group “care about bringing together the local community.”
Commencing Monday 14 August the NCS group will paint our fence, produce interactive games for our children’s area and plant the raised beds. You are able to support their project by donating here.
Racing staff and the wider community can take advantage of the garden at The Racing Centre of Fred Archer Way both during and after the NCS phase. The group’s developments will be posted on our social media streams @TheRacingCentre.
Car parking is available off the A142 and Fred Archer Way in the Guineas Car Park at a charge of only £1 for 3 hours.
